- The title says it all. Is there a FAQ for this problem? I have seen Peta's
- A500 pages for the WWW but I still have questions. Both my cars are older
- than my A2000 ;-) so I can't justify a new Amiga yet...
-
- Well I finally want to get onto the WWW to explore and post some Amiga
- pages. I have an A2000 (rev 4.4) 1meg angus/OS 2.1/ GVP series II SCSI card
- with 4 MB and a 100MB HD (90% full and I have deleted alot already). I also
- have a ReNo CDROM which has been a great upgrade. This system has been
- great for everything I've done so far but we all know its limitations. I
- don't want to wait for a new low end machine in North America so what should
- I upgrade next? I can spend about $300-$350 US Dollars but I still need to
- purchase a modem (got an old Supra 2400) and send some more :-) Shareware
- fees in.
-
- Should I get a 28.8K or will this speed be wasted on my 68000?
-
- I want to BUY OS 3.1 (need the datatypes) but is there a way to save here?
- Can I get away with just purchasing the ROM or the disks (and soft kick it)?
- I do have Multi-Start II with 1.3 and 2.04 ROMs so I guess I could sell the
- OS 2.1 set for some cash. (I want OS 1.3 to run old educational software
- for my kids, I guess I could use a degrader.)
-
- What about a cheap accelerator? (68020 $100 used?) Which should I avoid?
- I can't afford the 030 boards and I only want to surf (with graphics on
- sometimes), not do any rendering. What is that Supra 28, does this just
- increase the 68000 to 28 MZ?
-
- How about an I/O board? What slot does this go in? Will this justify a
- 28.8 modem?
-
- Do I NEED the Megachip 2000 or can I SEE the WWW with my 1 MB Angus?
-
- What about another SCSI HD? I think I'll need the room and I have seen 250
- MB SCSI II for $85 US Dollars new. Can I add this internally? Is there an
- internal connector already present? I have a C= 286 bridgeboard with the 5
- 1/4 drive could this be removed to house a HD and will I need a mounting
- bracket? Could I get any cash for the bridgeboard?
-
- Sorry for all the questions but I've been lurking for a while and still
- haven't seen the answers. TIA :-)
- Regards,
